The cabins are very run down and they look more like something out of wrong turn. The staff is not friendly, except for like three employees, but for the most part everyone is in need of some hospitality training, as I never felt welcome - even though I paid for four nights, AND I left two nights early from how disgusted I was with the experience.
You have a few high school graduates and like three backwoods looking hicks; none of them know how to smile or greet you properly. It's more like, "what do you want?"
Been coming here for years, and I still love this place. Could be a little pricey, but well worth the stay. Great place to get away from the city and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Don't come here if you need to sleep on plush sheets and bathe like a princess- this is CAMPING inside a cabin. And it's so fun, you have a hot plate inside for making your coffee and late nite Mac & Cheese, a fridge for your perishables, and electrical outlets to charge your phone although with AT&T I had one bar on 4G but who cares ! Bring the friends you want to spend time with and have a blast. Nobody should ever expect to use a public shower without flipflops - that's gross. Warm water showers and cleanly (i.e.-nobody's hairs and no leftover soapy mess), the cabins are plywood, rustic, it is as cold inside as outside - get cozy in your sleeping bag on top of your padded cot. It's really great. All these other whiners are sissies, it's not gross.
Been going there forever! Totally love it- beautiful lake, wonderful experience for children! Ranger Joe is a " one of a kind"! Once you experience it, I'm sure you'll become one of the "regulars"!
The cabins are typical summer camp style and the lake is beautiful. There are many nice hikes nearby. The main problem is the other campers. On our visit the cabin across the road played the radio the entire time, strung up Christmas lights, and seriously detracted from the peace of the environment. The cabins were way too close together given this...
BTW, you CANNOT cancel your reservation once it's purchased. Be very weary. Not worth it. Plenty of other decent places, probably with better accommodations too.
